CONVENT STITCH FOX

Description:
When Mistress Gabrielle, guild mistress of the East Kingdom embroidery guild, announced that she would be leaving the kingdom, the senior members, under the direction of Lady Elizabet Marshall, got together to make her a farewell gift, slips to appliqué onto a long cushion. The designs were originally adapted from the "Lady and the Unicorn" series of tapestries at the Cluny Museum by Mistress Dorren of Ashwell to be used in making prizes for an embroidery competition.
